Statement of Aim and Objective for Nepalese Australian Welfare Society

Aim:

The Nepalese Australian Welfare Society (NAWS) aims to foster community cohesion, promote cultural heritage, and enhance the social, economic, and emotional well-being of the Nepalese diaspora in Australia while encouraging integration and mutual understanding within the broader Australian society.

Objectives:

  1. Community Support and Development:
    • Provide assistance and support to Nepalese individuals and families in Australia, particularly in times of hardship, emergencies, or settlement challenges.
    • Facilitate programs that empower community members through education, training, and professional development opportunities.
  2. Cultural Promotion and Preservation:
    • Organize events and initiatives to celebrate and preserve Nepalese cultural traditions, arts, and language within the Australian multicultural framework.
    • Promote cultural exchange and understanding between the Nepalese and wider Australian communities.
  3. Social and Mental Well-being:
    • Develop and implement initiatives aimed at addressing mental health, family welfare, and social isolation within the Nepalese community.
    • Establish a network of professionals to provide counseling, advocacy, and other welfare services.
  4. Integration and Collaboration:
    • Encourage active participation of Nepalese Australians in local and national activities, fostering a sense of belonging and contribution to Australian society.
    • Build partnerships with government bodies, non-profit organizations, and other community groups to maximize resources and impact.
  5. Youth and Future Generations:
    • Create opportunities for young Nepalese Australians to connect with their heritage while empowering them to thrive in their education, careers, and social lives.
    • Promote leadership and volunteerism among the youth to ensure the sustained growth and vibrancy of the community.
  6. Emergency Response and Humanitarian Aid:
    • Support Nepalese Australians in emergencies, such as natural disasters, accidents, or critical health issues, through coordinated relief efforts and fundraising campaigns.
    • Contribute to disaster relief and development initiatives in Nepal as a gesture of solidarity and support to the country of origin.

This framework enables NAWS to act as a bridge between the Nepalese and Australian communities, fostering unity, well-being, and shared growth.
